Introducing Kátł’odeeche Ohn dah’

Kátł’odeeche Ohn dah’ is the Elders Group for Kátł’odeeche First Nation community members. Elders are registering the group as a non-profit society so that they can come together to care for their community and for each other.

Kátł’odeeche Ohn dah’ will plan and host initiatives and activities to reach out to young people and to support one another. The group will promote Dene Yati, cultural activities and volunteerism.

Membership to Kátł’odeeche Ohn dah’ is open to anyone aged 55 and up. Membership is $5. You must be a member to vote in the election.Please bring your $5 to the meeting.

On Wednesday October 11th, from 3pm – 5pm, there will be a meeting to elect a Board of Directors at the Elders Centre. Up to 8 Volunteer Members will be elected to the Board. The 8 Board Directors elected will choose among themselves a Chair, a Vice-Chair, a Secretary and a Treasurer. Board members are elected for a two year term. As the year for Kátł’odeeche Ohn dah’ runs from April 1 to March 31, the Board members elected will hold the position until March 31, 2019.

If you would like to volunteer to be on the Board, please let Denise Sabourin know of your nomination on or before Friday October 6, 2017. Your name will be put on a ballot and there will be a vote on October 11th.

All participation as members or on the Board is voluntary. There will be no payments made for the October 11th meeting and elected Board members will not be paid for their services as Board members.
